Membership is open to all. Members receive the quarterly "CMC News" which gives details of Club activities and other news from the climbing scene, as well as a copy of our biannual publication, "The Canterbury Mountaineer".

We meet every
3rd Thursday of the month 730pm at Pioneer Leisure Centre, upstairs
for a social chat to other members, and a talk starting 8pm on some climbing / outdoors / conservation topic or trip, usually accompanied by slides or movies. Prospective members are most welcome to come to some meetings to find how the club works and the benefits.

Subscriptions are fixed at the CMC AGM in May each year. The subscription year runs from 1 June to 31 May. People who join after 1 March do not have to renew their subscription until June the following year. Current subscription rates are:

Subscription notices are sent out late June / early July. A $5 discount is offered for early payment of subscriptions by 31 July. If you change your address please be sure to let the Club know. Send a change of address card to the Membership Secretary at PO Box 2415, Christchurch or contact Greg Ewing.
If you have registered on-line, you will be granted website member status normally within a day or two. You will receive an acknowledgement email normally within a few more days. Postal membership applications may take 2 weeks or more, due to mail clearing delays.
Membership cards are printed a month or two after subs fall due, and generally posted out with your CMC news following sub payment. If you need a card sooner than this please ask to pick it up at a monthly meeting.
Members can also receive a discount from various organisations and retailers upon presentation of a CMC membership card or membership confirmation letter.
To simplify administration we collect all subs at the same time - July each year - irrespective of when you join. This means some will get a short first year. We grant those joining from March to May the following year as well.
