We would like some inputs on this topic after a discussion at the 2009 AGM. Members, please comment on what you think of the idea that CMC encourages access to safety devices:
(We are aware that all those who have bought a 120 MHz beacon no longer can use it, and as the 400MHz ones are expensive to buy, rental seems a good option)
- what type would you want to rent - 400MHz locator beacon, or Satellite transponder that sends 'OK'
or 'In Trouble' emails / texts of your location at the press of a button (plus a full SAR callout if its that serious) (See http://cmc.net.nz/node/391 or http://findmespot.com )
- do you want CMC to subsidise a commercial rental provider?
- or have some we own that would be less likely to be all out at once?
