This year's award was chosen by a panel of well renowned people from the NZ climbing community.

The CMC presents this award in recognition of a very significant contribution to climbing, specifically some or all of:

• an outstanding recent climb or climbs
• a significant body of climbing over several years
• significant contribution to the climbing community
